April brings an increase in Court fees, full details of which can be viewed here Civil Proceedings Fees Order 2008
Please remember to check whether your client is entitled to the Help with fees Remission scheme, to avoid Court fees being disputed by your opponent upon settlement of the case.
Some of the notable fee increases are set out below:-
Hearing fee in a Multi track case £1175 increased to £1334
Hearing fee in a Fast track case £545 increased to £619
Application on Notice £303 increased to £313
Consent order £119 increased to £123
Application for summons or order for witness to attend court £21 decreased to £4
Issue of Default Costs Certificate (DCC) – Civil £78 increased to £80
Request/Application to set aside a DCC £143 increased to £148
Appeal (detailed assessment proceedings) – Civil £274 increased to £283
I understand the government’s intention is for the changes to go live from 8 April for applications received by courts or tribunals on or after that date. The current fees will continue to apply in the meantime.
